The Air is the slowest movement of my Ouverture & Suite in G major. In its version for harpsichord solo it is called air tendre so as to indicate its delicate nature. More than in any of the other movements of the suite, the first violin spins here, from the very first to the last bar, a cantilena over a bed of voluptuous harmonies.
