Little Bach-Track is one of my earlier harpsichord compositions and forms the prelude to my Suite in F major, called ’Sweet’. As the name suggests it traces my road back with a hint of nostalgia to Johann Sebastian Bach, notably the maestro who wrote those enchanting Preludes for beginners.
Somewhat improvising on Bach’s principles, in my composition the right hand moves in a continuous strain of triplets, often in the form of arpeggios, while the left hand underpins each triplet group. From behind these two obvious parts emerges, as if representing a third part, a slow melody that is woven around the first notes of each bar.
Although the piece breathes a certain innocence, the harmonious development in its second half gradually shifts away till it lands on a point d’orgue on the bass note E which, in terms of harmony, is relatively remote from the home key, F major. Subsequently, as if attracted
