Grégoire Jeay, a French flautist residing in Montreal Canada, is principal flautist of Toronto's Tafelmusik, Festival Montréal Baroque Orchestra, Les Idées Heureuses, Les Voix Humaines, Baroque SaMuse, Le Studio de Musique Ancienne de Montréal, Medieval ensemble La Mandragore, Skye Consort, Les Boréades and Trinity Consort of Portland, Oregon, USA. He has played in Canada, the United States, France, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Turkey, and has performed with renowned artists, Susie Leblanc, Nancy Argenta, Daniel Taylor, Emma Kirkby, Karina Gauvin, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Luc Beauséjour, Hervé Niquet (La Nouvelle Sinfonie) and Hendrik Bouman.
He premiered, with Baroque SaMuse, Hendrik Bouman's chamber music, and notably in the Festival Montreal Baroque 2007 the Partita for Flute Solo in B minor which Hendrik Bouman composed for him in 2006. In July 2009 he premiered with Hendrik Bouman the Sonata for Flute and Basso continuo in B minor which Hendrik Bouman had composed in 2005. In Autumn 2009 he joined Hendrik Bouman as the principal flautist and soloist of The Baroque Muse with which he premiered and recorded Hendrik Bouman's Flute Concerto in E minor, of which he is the dedicatee, which was released in January 2011. His recording on CD of the Partita for Flute Solo in B minor which Hendrik Bouman composed for him will be released in 2011.
Grégoire Jeay also composes in a wide range of styles and for various productions, including the Grüss Circus in France and a Television documentary on Medieval Mystical Women. Jeunesse Musicale Canada commissioned him to write a musical play, “Le Visiteur”. His concerts have been recorded on CBC/ Radio-Canada and RTB-Belgique, Atma and Analekta labels. Grégoire Jeay teaches at the Université de Montréal.
